For Manga mad teengers

Not a deeply academic book, nor does it need to be. It fills in the niche of inspiring teenagers, (of all ages) to accurately portray the figures of Manga art. It is not just cartoon portrayal, (and done properly that's difficult enough), but it's based on an accurate grasp of human anatomy. The author knows his stuff, and has displayed his considerable talent not just with the beautiful art, but also in his presentation and teaching skills. The highly attractive drawings will inspire the student who should find the more difficult anatomy portrayals nothing but fun! There is a good dollop of sugar with the medicine. When the book arrived I managed to get an in depth look at it, and when it was time for my grandaughter to collect I was loth to give it to her!

Great for beginners

I found this book incredibly helpful learning the basics of manga/anime figure proportions and how and why they differ from normal human anatomy. The sections dealing with common mistakes people make and how to better spot them were also exceptionally useful. I find myself slowly but surely improving as a result of reading this book and find myself referring to it a lot.

Basic Anatomy for the Manga Artist

As someone who owns quiet a few books on drawing this is one of the best anatomy ones I've found. Especially for this genre because the vast majority of books on anatomy are life drawing but this isn't. What I found particularly useful was small tips, such as judging the height of a figure by the size of the head. Also in the later chapters there's trouble shooting sections about proportions etc which are really helpful and might point out things you didn't know you did(extra long arms, for me). So I would completely recommend this for tweaking and improving your anatomy drawing.
