Good advice covering machine and hand piecing and quilting

I purchased this book 18 months ago and it's great. Since starting as a "failed beginner" (it all went in the bin and I tried again), this book has become a piecing/quilting bible to me. In fact I'll need to purchase another one because it's coming apart.You WILL need to read it cover to cover as there is a lot of information about things such as bias, seam allowance, yardage, colour value, chain piecing and so on. When I first had the book I just "dipped in and out" and subsequently didn't get the best from it.Make the 5+ little quilts, the cushion and a table runner - ignore the colours shown and do what you want to do.Buy this book and stick with it, it covers all the technical stuff you'll ever need to know.

A great reference and learning tool for beginning quilters

A wonderful reference and learning tool for anyone who wants to learn to quilt without classes. Teaches the reader how to choose fabric color, what hue and texture means, making templates, machine and hand-piecing, machine and hand quilting, assembling your quilt and a complete review of quilt supplies. It should be called, "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Quilting, but Didn't Know Who To Ask." It is a book you can depend on for the answers. The description and step-by-step photos of the hand quilting stitch is excellent.
